Lok Kandjengo
About the Artist
Lok Kandjengo, born in 1988 in Ongwedieva, embarked on his artistic journey in Windhoek, where he pursued visual arts education at the John Muafangejo Art Centre followed by the College of the Arts. Graduating in 2011, he specialized in the oil-based technique of cardboard printmaking, alongside mastering linoleum block printmaking. Kandjengo's work is recognized for its distinct graphic quality, drawing inspiration from the everyday experiences of his life.
Kandjengo's artistic prowess has been showcased both locally and internationally, leading to his works being part of prestigious collections such as the National Art Gallery of Namibia and the Museum Wuerth Collection in Germany. His career is marked by three solo exhibitions: his debut at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre in 2013, followed by two more at the National Art Gallery of Namibia in 2015 and 2018. Additionally, Kandjengo has contributed to numerous group exhibitions, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the art world. His ability to encapsulate the essence of his daily life into highly graphic prints has not only defined his style but also resonated with audiences far and wide.
