About the Artist
Xenson Znja, a multifaceted artist from Uganda, transcends traditional art boundaries by merging fashion, performance, installation, video, and painting to explore critical themes such as identity, consumerism, human excess, and the global exchange of cultures. His work is deeply rooted in the richness of African culture, the dynamism of African dance, and the expressive freedom found in Hip Hop. Opting out of engineering studies, Xenson pursued his passion for art at the Makerere Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts, where he graduated with first-class honors.
Xenson's unique approach and innovative works have made him a prominent figure in the art world, both in Uganda and internationally. His art, performances, installations, and fashion pieces have been featured in numerous exhibitions and events around the globe. Notable participations include "Kabbo ka Muwala" in Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Germany, the Johannesburg Art Fair in South Africa, "The Lubare and the Boat" in Scotland, and the "Future of Africa" summit in Paris, France.
His commitment to exploring the contemporary issues facing Africa and the diaspora, coupled with his creative use of materials and forms, has earned him recognition and inclusion in private and public collections worldwide, including the Scottish Museum.
