Curatorial Perspectives on African Art: Working with Collections, Collectives and Cultural Spaces

Curatorial Perspectives on African Art: Working with Collections, Collectives and Cultural Spaces
On September 24, 2026, GubGub Studios, Doha, Qatar, hosted a talk in collaboration with ARAK Collection, bringing together ARAK’s 2026 curatorial fellows.

Facilitated by Dr Holiday Powers, the discussion featured Keamogetse Mosienyane, Billy Fowo, and Aleesha Suleman, who shared perspectives from their respective research and curatorial practices. The conversation considered the ways curators work across collections, collectives, and cultural spaces, and the different contexts that shape how African art is researched, interpreted, and presented.

The event formed part of ARAK Collection’s curatorial fellowship programme, extending the fellows’ research into a public setting and creating a space for exchange between practitioners and audiences.
